Two Essential Concepts Needed For
Success in Business
November 15, 2015 – Staff
Proof domains changes lives can be seen by looking at one updated domain whois data entry back in July 2015. Then to see what this domain became. To be clear, we are not sure how all of this happened or when. The facts shows (whois data) it was updated back in July with brand protection company, MarkMonitor Inc. The domain is Hum.com.
Hum.com, by Verizon, just launched and it’s website says, “Hum will turn almost any car into a smarter, safer, more connected car.” – Hum.com, A Verizon company
This is the point: Everyone knows Verizon is by far a mobile service provider. Now they are using that technology for a plugin device for cars. WOW! This Hum.com will change the lives of millions.
Car breakdown? No problem Hum has your back! Need a diagnostic service performed on your car … No problem! Have an emergency? One-button access to emergency help, Hum is on it! Hum.com.
What exactly is Hum?
Hum just plugs into your car’s OBD-II (On-board Diagnostic) and it’s on the job 24/7 to help you. Verizon just hit the “mother load” with this device. Hum is a subscription service now open to most car owners. Haven’t heard about Hum? Stay tuned … Everyone will eventually be talking about Hum or using it.
One question arises, why would Verizon get in to the auto device business? What’s up with this Hum business?
Hum is the best auto device (in our opinion) since OnStar! When General Motors came out with OnStar in 1995 we were elated! Finally, help can really be on the way. Now Verizon is bringing help to many whose car may not have an OnStar type of system.
The question still remains, why? Why would Verizon secure a domain name like Hum.com and use it for mobile devices ? Why? Verizon made this move for many reasons. Including what we talked about a week ago.
Remember the two reasons? ….
Many companies make similar moves like this for the same two reasons. Differentiation and
Positioning. @DomainOwners @ShoutOutxyz @abcxyzhome
In our 2nd, Alphabet Live Marketing Class last week, we discussed Differentiation and Positioning and why we have to use these today! Let’s recap Differentiation and Positioning for many who may not have attended our live marketing class.
Differentiation and Positioning or two essential concepts for success in business today. Alphabet Domains sees these two concepts in use more today. What is Differentiation and Positioning and how can domain owners implement these into their business?
Differentiation is accomplished by helping customers see your company as an industry leader in its space… @DomainOwners #CustomerService
Positioning is about increasing worldwide brand recognition through persistent marketing. Notice the word “worldwide”.
What are the key factors at work to make this happen? Going back to … “domains changes lives”, see how Hum.com changes lives.
Verizon’s Hum will be seen as an industry leader in the auto diagnostic and emergency notification space… Notice “Industry Leader”. Already having the global mobile network connections “positions” Verizon to piggyback another service to achieve “Differentiation”.
Domain Owners can achieve Differentiation and Positioning by piggybacking domain sales with another service.
Look at your domains, what domain can you use as a Differentiation and Positioning platform to grow your business?
Notice Verizon looked at their mobile network and realized that there are some up and coming players in the mobile services space. Verizon’s pricing policy caused many customers to look elsewhere for mobile services. They even made a TV commercial showing why they should come back and get the “new” deals being offered … some did come back. It’s hard to get people paying 3 figure $$ every month for cell service when Metro PCS, T-Mobile, Cricket and others are out there waving their flags. In fact, did you see Metro PCS banner on the Holm – Rousey fight 8 hours ago (11-15-15) in Melbourne Australia? If not watch this video.
Remember: Differentiation and Positioning. “worldwide”. MetroPCS aimed it’s banners and flags at the hundreds of thousands watching live and on tube videos forever.
With the “David and Goliath” factor in play, companies like Verizon sees the value of Differentiation and Positioning. So can domain owners! Differentiation and Positioning are the best of many business concepts for domain owners.
These two concepts Differentiation and Positioning are the best concepts since the first domain Symbolics.com was created March 15, 1985. Differentiation and Positioning are certainly the best two concepts for domain owners since the internet came online on March 12, 1989.
It’s a global ‘Internet” for businesses to expand beyond borders. Like Verizon, Wendy’s and many other businesses in their space who would like to find a domain, domain owners already have domains sitting there waiting to go to work. Put them to work!
